Turkey tail is a very pretty, thin, velvety mushroom with colorful stripes resembling the tail of a wild turkey. It is an easily found mushroom growing abundantly throughout North America that has been used medicinally in Asia for centuries.
Turkey tail is most well known for its ability to boost the immune system and has been used by cancer patients, specifically to provide support during chemotherapy. It is also an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and is reported to lower cholesterol, support heart health, aid in digestion and increase energy. Because of its antiviral and antimicrobial properties, it is useful in preventing the common cold and flu, and fighting HPV (human papillomavirus) and hepatitis C.
This tincture is made with turkey tail (Trametes versicolor) mushrooms ethically wild harvested by me here in northern Vermont.
Some of the medicinal compounds of turkey tail mushrooms need to be extracted using alcohol, and some need to be extracted using water. Both alcohol and water extractions were used to make this tincture, making it a double extraction tincture that contains both the alcohol-soluble and water-soluble medicinal properties of turkey tail mushrooms. It was made with spring water and grain alcohol and contains approximately 25% alcohol.
Suggested dose is 1-3 dropperfuls per day.
Available in 1 oz, 2 oz and 4 oz dropper bottles.
