Ghost pipe (Monotropa uniflora), also known as Indian pipe, is a unique and fascinating plant. It has no chlorophyll, so lacks the green color of most other plants as well as the ability to photosynthesize. Instead of relying on the sun to produce food, it obtains nourishment from certain fungi that in turn obtain nourishment from tree roots, and because of this delicate balance, it can't be transplanted or cultivated.
Ghost pipe was used medicinally by Native Americans and is known for its ability to treat pain, both physical and emotional. It is a sedative and helps control anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia. It is useful in treating muscle spasms, nervousness, agitation, migraines, fevers and infections. It is also called fit plant as it has anticonvulsant properties and has been used to treat seizures and epilepsy. It can also be used as a calming agent to help people overwhelmed by drug experiences such as those caused by LSD or hallucinogenic mushrooms.
This alcohol extraction tincture was made using ghost pipe harvested by me here in northern Vermont. It is a perennial plant that comes back year after year and I ethically harvest from several large patches in my woods, making sure not to disturb the roots, ensuring that my ghost pipe colonies continue to be strong and healthy.
Available in 1 oz and 2 oz dropper bottles.
Suggested dose is 1-2 dropperfuls as needed.
This tincture was made with grain alcohol and contains approximately 50% alcohol.
