St. John's wort gets its name because it is traditionally harvested around the time of the summer solstice, or June 24, St. John's Day. It is a widely known and highly valued medicinal herb that has been used for centuries, dating back to the ancient Greeks. It is most commonly used to treat mild depression and its symptoms including anxiety, tiredness, loss of appetite and trouble sleeping. It is also useful in treating PMS, menopause symptoms, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and can help relieve stress and promote REM sleep.
St. John's wort is a widespread perennial that grows along roadsides, in pastures and meadows, and in sunny woodland clearings. This is an alcohol extraction tincture made with St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) flowers and leaves ethically wild harvested by me here in northern Vermont. It was made with grain alcohol and contains approximately 50% alcohol.
Available in 1 oz, 2 oz and 4 oz dropper bottles.
Suggested dose is 1-3 dropperfuls as needed.
